Well, I saw this bag, a YSL June Box Bag, online the other day. This Yves Saint Laurent, they call it. Fancy name. It had a nice look, you know? Old-fashioned, but in a good way. And everyone is talking about it. So, I thought, why not try and make one myself?
First, I had to find some pictures of this June Box Bag. I looked all over the internet. Found some good ones that showed the front, the back, the sides, everything. This bag, it’s got a flap in the front and some kind of fancy closure. They call it a “pivoting cassandre” something. Sounds complicated. Also, the bag has a lot of stitching, kind of like a diamond pattern.
- Finding the material: Next, I went to the store to get some leather. Needed the right color and thickness. Not too thick, not too thin. Also got some thread, strong stuff. I spent a good chunk of time picking these out.
- Cutting the pieces: After getting the materials, I started to draw out the pattern on the leather, using the pictures as a guide. It was not easy! I had to be real careful. Then, I used some sharp scissors to cut the pieces. One slip and you could mess up the whole thing. I had to make the front, back, sides, the flap, everything!
- Sewing it together: Once all the pieces were cut out, I started sewing them together. That was a real chore. Took hours and hours. I pricked my fingers a few times with the needle, I did. My hands got tired, but I kept on going. Stitching that diamond pattern was tough!
- Adding the closure: Then came the hard part – adding that “pivoting cassandre” closure. I couldn’t make it exactly like the real one, of course. But I found a similar one at the store and figured out how to attach it. It took some doing, but I got it on there.
It was a real experience. It’s got that old-fashioned look, like the original.
Finally, after all that work, I finished my own YSL June Box Bag! It might not look exactly like the real one. It’s not perfect, but I am kind of proud of it. It’s a good size, I think. And it feels pretty sturdy. I guess you could say it’s my own version of that fancy Saint Laurent bag. Now I have my own YSL June Box Bag, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg!
Anyway, that’s the story of how I made my own YSL June Box Bag. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try making another kind of bag next. We’ll see.
