This here, this OMEGA, yeah, that’s the one, Speedmaster 38mm. You seen it? Fancy thing, ain’t it? My neighbor’s grandson, he’s always on about these OMEGA Speedmaster watches. Says they’re the best. I don’t know about all that, but they sure do look shiny.
He was sayin’ the other day these things, these OMEGA watches, they go for a lot of money. Like, a whole lot. He said some go for $500, some for way more, like $35,000! Can you believe that? For a watch! Most are ’round $4,000, he says. That’s more than I spent on my whole kitchen, I tell ya!
Big Money for a Little Watch
Now, this Speedmaster 38mm, it’s a smaller one, I reckon. He was goin’ on about how the big ones are 42mm, but they feel like 40mm. I don’t know what any of that means. All I know is it’s got a lot of numbers and lines on it. Must be important, I guess, for folks who need to know the time real precise like.

He was showin’ me pictures, too. Said this OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm, it’s got all sorts of colors. This one, it’s kinda brown and silver, like coffee with cream. Then there’s a green one, with yellow like. Fancy stuff. Not like my old watch, that’s for sure. That one just tells the time, plain and simple.
All Them Fancy Words
My neighbor’s grandson, he was usin’ all these big words, too. “Heritage,” he said. “Innovation.” Said this watch, this Speedmaster 38mm, it’s got a lot of history. I guess that means it’s been around a while. Like me! But I ain’t worth no $4,000, that’s for sure.
He kept sayin’ it’s a good watch, a really good watch. That this OMEGA place, they make good stuff. He tried to get me to buy one. Told me to go to their “official website”. Said I could get it right there, just click a button. I told him I ain’t buyin’ no watch online! What if it gets lost in the mail? What if it’s a fake? He just laughed.
They got all kinds of these Speedmaster watches, he says. Not just this 38mm one. Big ones, small ones, different colors. You name it, they got it. I guess if you got the money, you can get whatever you want. Must be nice, huh?
Don’t Need No Fancy Watch
Me, I don’t need no fancy watch. I got a clock in the kitchen, and one in the living room. And if I really need to know the time, I just look at the sun. That’s how we used to do it, back in the day. No fancy Speedmaster 38mm needed.

But I gotta admit, that OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm, it is kinda pretty. All shiny and new. If I had the money, maybe I’d get one. Just to look at, mind you. Wouldn’t want to scratch it or nothin’. It’d be like wearin’ a tiny little car on your wrist!
He showed me a site, I forget what it was called, but it had a bunch of these OMEGA watches listed. Lots of pictures, lots of numbers. He said people buy and sell ’em there. It is a Speedmaster 38 Mm offical site, he said. Like a market, but for watches. Sounded complicated to me.
Maybe I’ll Ask Him Again
I still don’t understand why anyone would pay so much for a watch. But my neighbor’s grandson, he sure seemed to like ’em. Maybe I’ll ask him about it again sometime. Maybe he can explain it to me in a way that makes sense to an old lady like me. The OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm is still in his mind. He said, a good watch, a good store. I don’t know. He just likes it.
This official store, the Speedmaster 38mm official store, he said, is the best. But you know, young people like new things. He keeps saying that. I think he just wants me to buy him one! He’s a good boy, though. Maybe I’ll get him one for his birthday. If I win the lottery, that is!
This Speedmaster 38mm, it is something, yeah. If you like watches, I think you like this one. My neighbor’s grandson likes this one. But it is a lot of money. You need think about it, yeah. A watch is a watch, I think. But this one, this OMEGA, it is pretty.
